Ensign Hank Samuels is Chief of Security of Starbase Freedom.
Physical Description[edit]
Being an El-Aurian, Hank looks like a fit thirty years old, despite being over a hundred years old. He has short, blond hair and sharp blue eyes. Hank is fit and muscled, with a stubble beard and a kind smile.
Pre Starfleet History[edit]
Before joining Starfleet, Hank was an average schoolchild. His scores were nothing to write home about, although his teachers suspected that he didn't really do his best. Between his first and second Starfleet stint, he spent fourteen years (2396-2410) as a Private Investigator on New Pegasus.
After he married his wife Zara, he moved to the Trill home-world to become a police detective. Due to his investigative experience, Hank was put in charge of the Trill security complement aboard Starbase Freedom.
Family and Background[edit]
Officially named Hendrick, Hank Samuels was born in 2340 at the New Pegasus Colony to Richard and Jennifer Samuels, a pair of El-Aurian refugees. (The New Pegasus Colony is located inside 3325 TARDIS in Earth's Solar System. It has a population of around 325,000.) His parents were lawyers, but Hank was too curious about the rest of the galaxy. So he joined Starfleet at age 16.
He has a younger sister called Megan (Born: 2396), who is married to a Romulan male named Tyrack. They have two children named Hendrick Jr. (Born: 2406) and Ricky (Born: 2412).
Starfleet History[edit]
Hank has served two previous stints in Starfleet. His first stint was 2356-2396. It ended because his sister Megan was born. He retired and went back home to help his parents.
Stint number two was the result of the Federation Civil War. Because Starfleet had been purging Doenitz supporters from its ranks, it needed replacement. So in 2410, they recruited Hank. This stint ended in 2436, when he met his wife Zara and the two of them got married. He retired with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer.
His current stint began in 2446 when Captain Dahr gave him a field commission with rank of Ensign.
