The Variable-Compression Nozzle is an advanced version of a Antimatter Injector or a Deuterium Injector. Whereas the other injectors maintain a uniform flow of materials for annihilation into the Magnetic Constrictors the variable-compression nozzle is able to be adjusted independently of each other to enrich or lean-out the intermix.
This component was a novel idea in the 22nd century and was first implemented in the NX Class starship. it was originally designed by the Andorians and was used aboard their starships.
Currently all injectors are variable-compression, although they are not commonly referred to by that name.
