Optima VII is a planet at the edge of Federation space. It was selected as a relocation colony site for the survivors of the Ivor Prime Colony destroyed by the Borg.
The Colonists were led by Doctor Laura Schell and were rescued by the USS Champlain nearly two decades after the Borg destroyed the colony.
The USS Rosenante was assigned to transport the colonists and all their equipment to Optima VII but were delayed when they were sent orders in route to investigate the disappearance of the Sky of Tomorrow, a freighter that was over due.
The colonists were finally transferred to Optima VII upon the conclusion of the investigation of the loss of the federation freighter. The Optima Colony was established in mid-2407.
This planet first appeared in the USS Rosenante Mission: 'A Fine and Private Place.
