Aquillians are a bipedal reptilian species that inhabit the planet Beta Aquillia IV. Normally a peaceful race, the Aquillians had been petitioning for membership into the United Federation of Planets.
In 2414, an Aquillian pro-isolationist movement, called the Veil of the Sky acquired weapons and seized control of the planet. They seized the Federation Ambassador and her staff, demanding that the UFP recognize their government. In response the USS Rosenante was dispatched.
