The Federation Naval Patrol was a department of the Federation that dealt with sea ships patrolling oceans on Federation worlds, colonies and Starfleet Bases. They act much like the Coast Guard, Navy and Oceanographic Institute rolled into one force and have been called the Starfleet of the oceans. The Naval Patrol is bases on Earth as well as Naval Patrol facilities on Pacifica and other Federation worlds. Many Starfleet Cadets received naval training at these facilities before graduating.
