Starbase 718 is a Federation starbase located near the Romulan Neutral Zone and a key strategic location for the defense of the Federation colonies in the upper part of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants in sectot Z-6. The Starbase is located only a few light years away from Outposts 3, 4, 5 and 6, serving as a sectorial base. It also serve as a direct protection for the 23th Task Force shipyard.
The starbase also serves as the base of operation of the 23th Task Force commanded by Vice Admiral Beckett. Starfleet Intelligence also has offices there, under the supervision and command of Vice-Admiral Thinn.
