USS Starfire Specs
Since the first ship of her class was created in 2371, a lot of modifications have been made to the Defiant Class.
Warp Core
The USS Starfire is equipped with the latest generation of Defiant Warp Core, allowing for a normal cruise of Warp 7, a Maximum Cruise of Warp 9, and as much as Warp 9.98 for 24 hours if the power for the pulse cannon are rerouted towards the nacelles. She is also equipped with the latest generation of fusion reactors, allowing for improved weapon and impulse engine output.
Tactical System
The ship is also equipped with the latest weapon technologies : 4x Class III rapid fire pulse cannon, 1 Type XIV Phaser Bank (output of 120 000 Terawatts), 3x Pulse Fire quantum torpedo tube and 1x Probe/Photon torpedo launcher.
One of the best improvement on the USS Starfire is the new deflector and emitter technology, allowing for both a double-layers shielding and improved rotation coefficient. Starfleet engineers found a way to create two layers of shield by creating a dual-deflector dish. The layers can be superposed because of their different wave pattern. Such technology boost shield efficiency by 15% (now 3 762 000 Terajoules) and allows for a decreased chance of momentary failure of the shields since one layer will still be active if the other layer fail. The most important advantage is against the Borg. Because there is two layers of shield, it take longer for the Borg to adapt to the two-layer shields rotation, making the shields of the USS Starfire particularly efficient against them.
Sensors
Sensors have also been upgraded to include a Tachyon Long-Range sensor, to improve long-range detection of cloaked ship. Tactical sensors are the latest breakthrough, the USS Starfire tactical sensors being almost as efficient as the Sovereign Class despite the limitation of the sensors due to the size of the ship. There is one science lab on the USS Starfire with limited sensors capabilities.
Crew Quarters
With so little space on a Defiant class ship, there hasn't been much improvement since 2371. With new technologies that take less space, the engineers were able to use that extra space to improve the crew quarters on Deck 1 to include their own washroom.
