Background
Matthew is the oldest of 7 Children, and the first and only to enter Starfleet. His parents were civilian scientists. He entered Starfleet Academy at the age of 18 to get away from the Science world. But it just seemed to drag him back in.

The Humboldt was Matthew's first duty station, and the one where he spent the bulk of his career. He started out as a tactical department and served there for a good while. However after showing his science skills on an away mission, he was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and Assistant Chief Science officer and moved to the Science division.

His hobbies involve writing poetry. It is a solitary activity, which he enjoys as he is kind of a loner.
