Defiant Class

The research for the Defiant Class started just before the Dominion War. After a while of research Starfleet didn't think they needed the Defiant Class so they stopted the research. When the Dominion War begun, Starfleet ordered to go on with the Defiant Class research. About half a year later the research was done the USS Defiant was built. The Defiant was assigned to Captain Benjamin Sisko for the test-flight. After a few tests the Defiant past and Captain Sisko asked Starfleet to build more Defiant Class [[starships because he found it a great ship to fly on. Starfleet agread. This was the birth of the Defiant Class. After the Dominion War the Defiant Class was modified to fight against the Borg because of the Borg invasion. Todays Defiant is armed with two forward-firing phasers on their bow, allowing them to unleash a barrage of firing power at any opponent they face. They are also armed with Quantum Torpedoes they fire from the front of the ship at sides.
