==Background:==

[[Thomas Jackson]] was born in the [[Utopia Colony]] on [[Mars]] to [[Jonathan Jackson|Jonathan]] and [[Martha Jackson]]. He is an only child. He spent his formative years there, attending primary school and participating in a variety of little league sports events. Even at an early age, Tom showed a remarkable ability to organize things, and he opened a widely successful lemonade franchise program  on Utopia, organizing the shipment of Lemons from [[Earth]] and standardizing prices among the stands that were part of his program. With the money he earned, Tom purchased a hoverboard, which otherwise would have been out of his financial reach.

At age twelve, disaster struck when his father, Jonathan contracted a rare and untreatable brain disease. Jonathan died later that year.

At age fourteen, Martha Jackson, remarried, this time to a [[Ferengi]] business man named [[Pez]].  At first the two did not get along, but eventually their relationship blossomed and Pez adopted young Thomas.

The family relocated to [[Ferenginar]], although Tom spent the majority of his adolescence aboard the [[D'Kora Class|D'Kora Class Trader]] [[Shotal]]. He completed his secondary training while on board that ship. His primary areas of study was logistics. He served aboard that vessel under contract for two years as an [[Operations Officer|Operations Technician]]. After completing his studies, Tom decided to return to the [[Sol|Sol System]] so that he could study Engineering design and advanced project logistics at the famed [[Utopia Planitia|Utopia Planitia Shipyard Complex]]. He scored well in his exams and was persuaded by his instructors to join [[Starfleet]].
