After meeting at the [[Starfleet Academy|Academy]] in 2376, Matthew and [[Nara]] formed a quick friendship, which quickly changed to romance. By the time of graduation in 2379, they were engaged. They were married that summer before they shipped out for [[Starbase Eridani]]. It was soon after that their first son [[Joran Matthew Brownlee|Joran]] was born in late 2380. However, tragedy soon struck the star-crossed couple, when complications with the preganancy and birth of their second son, [[Christian Soval Brownlee|Christian]], caused her untimely death. Matthew was devastated, and not even now has fully recovered from an even that happened nearly thirty years before.

Though she never divulged her origins to him, that didn't matter. She was the perfect match for him, and he for her, in their opinions. Her death caused great anguish in all that knew her, especially her 25-year-old husband and two-year-old son.
