Editing Assistant Chief Science Officer

The Assistant Chief Science Officer is an officer underneath the Chief Science Officer. They operate by helping the Chief of the department by managing task on a day to day or lower level. A department may have many assistants because each assistant may have a team within the department (ie, alpha shift, beta shift etc.) They also have many similar responsibilities of the Chief Science Officer when the Chief Science Officer is off ship or off duty.

Serve in the Science Department on starships or starbases in Starfleet. As the name implies, science officers are responsible for observations, research, and experiments in any of the sciences, including mathematics, statistics, physics (physical and temporal), chemistry, botany, zoology, geology, cosmology, and others. Some science officers specialize in a particular discipline. The department has some overlap with the medical department in terms of microbiology, xenobiology, and life sciences.
