George went to the University of Michigan where he received, in due time, a Masters in Psychology, as well as the necessary medical training to become a Psychiatrist. He worked under his parents until they retired and he took over the practice. People in the area came to be treated by his parents because they knew them and knew their style. But after a few years of George Samhan they left. Soon George was forced to close his family practice which had been in the family for three generations due to a lack of patients. His parents tried to reassure him, but he felt terrible. It was then his father died of cancer, and his mother soon afterward was killed by a heart attack.
