[[Quartz]] is a mineral found throughout the galaxy. It was present in the explosive mineral formations on [[Gamma Trianguli VI]], along with [[hornblende]] and [[uraninite]]. (TOS: "The Apple") The planet [[Sikaris]] had a mantle of tetrahedral quartz twenty kilometers thick. The crystalline structure of the planet's mantle served as an amplifier for the [[Sikarian]]'s spatial trajector technology. (VOY: "Prime Factors") Following a mine cave-in that occurred near Carbon Creek, Pennsylvania, on Earth, Mestral cut through a wall containing a stratum of quartz to free the trapped miners. (ENT: "Carbon Creek") Among the artifacts Vash brought back from the [[Gamma Quadrant]] in 2369 included an object that appeared to be some kind of [[Promethean Quartz]], however, its molecular density and refraction index was much higher. (DS9: "Q-Less") [[Category: Science]]
