Quezal is a class-P planet located in the Tarod Sector at the margin of both Federation and Romulan space. The population of the planet, who was averaging 50 millions, are called the Quezalth. Since the surface of the planet is extremely cold, more than 97% of the Quezalth population live in underground cities where the temperature is warmer because of the geothermic energy of the planet core. The planet is very poor in resources and don't allow for much vegetation. This has forced the Quezalth to be very ingenious to survive such harsh conditions. Because their cities were underground, the Federation and Romulan discovered there were humanoid lives on Quezal only in the late 24th century. It was then discovered that despite poor, the planet crust contained both mensilium and aeghon, two were prized minerals. Mensilium has the property to improve synaptic activities as well as boost the telepathic abilities of species having that ability. Aeghon is a crystalline mineral which allow for the best photonic concentration of any material known. Therefore, it is one of the most prized mineral, as it can be used both to increase energy weapon efficiency as well as make better chirurgical tools or technologies. It is however extremely rare, having none known colony (except Quezal) where it can be found. On stardate 2414.06.13, the planet was devastated by antimatter explosion which explosive effect was amplified by the presence of the aeghon mineral in the planet crust.
