Captain's Log Stardate 2408.04.25 0800 hours. We're now ten days into our trip along the Subspace river terminus designated the Tau Sigma Flow. Our mission is one of exploration, a task which the crew and I alike are ready to undertake with a great deal of enthusiasm. The specifics of our mission are to explore an area immediately beyond the terminus of the Subspace River in a section of unexplored space named the Beltanis Nursery. An unmanned probe has managed to identify the specific signals necessary to 'open' the Tau Sigma Flow branch and this has allowed star fleet command to dispatch us to begin a detailed survey of the region. This is an exciting opportunity for us, as the Nursery will allow us an unprecedented opportunity to learn about the natural formation of not only stellar bodies, but planetary systems and planets as well. The Nursery is a massive area, and is filled with dozens of stars in various stages of formation, some already supporting early solar systems. Never, to my knowledge, has there been such an opportunity to study so many various stages of stellar formation within a single area of space. I suspect that dozens of questions will be answered and hundreds new posed as a result of our survey in this sector. The sense of exploration that appealed to me as a young man, has been rekindled and I am anxiously awaiting our arrival to begin our quest for knowledge. likewise the sense of excitement is tangible among the crew and morale has never been higher. With our projected arrival to the terminus in just under an hour, I find it only fitting that the Rosenante, a ship initially designed for war, should finally be allowed to pursue a more peaceful role in expanding the frontiers of science and fanning the burning passions of exploration. ~End Log~ [[Category: Character Notes]]
