[[Solyon]] is the name of a [[Rogue Planet]] that was located in [[Sector 6309]], which bordered [[Federation]], [[Romulan Star Empire|Romulan]] and [[Cardassian Union|Cardassian]] space. 

The name originates with the [[Asrai]] a species native to the planet [[Asrai Prime]]. The rogue planet is known as [[Solyon|Solyon the Destroyer]], and it is often considered to be the harbinger of a great catastrophe.

Despite the fact that the Asrai could not have predicted the presence of the world three thousand years in their past, when the myth originated, they were vaguely aware of it's existence.

The planet was discovered by the [[USS Rosenante]] in 2414, during a survey of the sector. They placed away teams on the surface of the planet in order to better get an idea of it's climate and limited biodiversity.  It was quickly dsicovered that the planet, though only 1600 kilometers in diameter, had been [[Terraforming|terraformed]], although it was still in the process and possibly had been for a few thousand years at the time of this discovery.

After determining that the planet would pass close enough to the planet [[Asrai Prime]] to upset it's delicate orbit around  its parental [[Binary stars]], the crew of the Rosenante undertook a mission to safeguard the pre-warp inhabitants of that world provided that they could prove that the Asrai did not fall under the restrictions imposed by  the [[Prime Directive]].
