The USS Amistadt is a Federation Starship of the Luna Class. It was originally stolen immediately after it was constructed from the Planetia Utopia ship yards before it could be commissioned by Doenitz Forces during the Federation Civil War. The vessel was commissioned and crewed by the 52nd Fleet. The crew were trained for six months before being assigned to the task force that would help clear the way through the Canopius System in advance of a planned offensive by the 52nd Fleet. The mission was successful, and during the battle in that system, the Amistadt managed to disable and capture the USS Defender, commanded by Rear Admiral Errol Heatherby, effectively bringing the battle to an end. The vessel remained in the system in reserve, but was never again used in battle during the civil war. Later the vessel was refitted as an explorer and assigned to operate in the Beta Quadrant.
