'''Zaye Belden''' was a [[Starfleet]] Officer and the first [[Trill]] to join [[Starfleet]] after his homeworld became a member of the [[United Federation of Planets]]. He died holding the rank of [[Rank|Admiral]] in 2406, and supported [[Robert LoDona|LoDona's]] cause against the corruption tainting [[Starfleet]] during the early [[25th century]]. This may explain why the next host, [[Olesia Belden|Olesia]], defected after being assigned to fight on [[Rodrigo Doenitz|Doenitz's]] side in the [[Federation Civil War]]. He was the ninth host of the [[Belden|Belden Symbiont]], and was the first to reveal that the so-called "Belden Family" that had been at the forefront of [[Trill]] society, at least in the eyes of Humans, was in fact a series of hosts.
