The cellular regeneration and entertainment chamber was a device developed by Doctor Elias Giger in the 2370s. According to its designer, the chamber was designed to keep cells energized by "teaching" them "new mitochondrial tricks". The chamber functioned by transmitting biogenic energy on a chromoelectric wavelength, to send "uplifting and entertaining" messages to cellular nuclei. Giger predicted that, by spending eight hours a day in the machine, one's life span could be extended indefinitely – effectively bestowing immortality on the user.
Necessary supplies required for its operation included anaerobic metabolites suspended in a hydrosaline solution and a neodymium power cell. The device emitted highly charged polaric particles when in operation.
Federation scientists, however, were extremely doubtful about the practicality of Giger's theory. Weyoun became interested in the chamber during a visit to Deep Space 9 in 2373, but it remains unknown whether his own background in "creative genetics" gave him any real insight into the workings of the chamber.
