The Battle of Cardassia took place in late 2397 and was the final battle of the Cardassian-Federation War.
The battle consisted of a fleet action in the form of a federation task force forcing the last significant forces of the Cardassian fleet into a set-piece battle. Thought the Cardassians fought hard and well, the Federation along with their Klingon allies were successful. Among the federation starships lost were the USS Bastion and the USS Tripoli.
The Father of Captain Ahmed Ibn Salid was killed aboard the Tripoli at the Battle of Cardassia. He was serving as that ship's Chief Engineer
