There are three Richard Ian Lee’s, the remnants of three different games. They currently serve on the NPC ship USS Night’s Watch (Rear Admiral Lee), USS Mystique (Major Lee) & USS Dennison (Commander Lee)

Authors Note[edit]

Richard Ian Lee is my second oldest Character ever, and one of the most versatile. By versatile I mean this, his history was the easiest to move from game to game, and he is easily my most player character of all time.

One fact about FGN: Freedom Squadron / Star Trek: Freedom is that we have folded no less then two games into it. Utopia Planitia folded into FGN: Freedom Squadron years ago (and the Utopia site became the parent to the site you see today). FGN: Cold War (a later FGN game) folded into FGN: Freedom not very long after that.

... And you guessed it; I had Rich Lee in ALL THREE GAMES. This has made for some very interesting story lines.

My primary Rich in Star Trek: Freedom today is Rear-Admiral Richard Ian Lee, who began 'life' as the First Officer in the Utopia Planitia Universe. Because he came from a Dominion War universe, I tapped him as a special character, and his 'expertise' has become very important in our current story line. Because of his time fighting in a massive war he became Strategic Operations Officer for the 52nd Fleet.

He wasn’t my first Lee however, the Richard Ian Lee that I already had been playing in ST:Freedom (whatever the incarnation) is still around, and he's on the Mystique as the Marine Commanding Officer. He is my original Lee, untouched from the days I first played him on Starbase 23 starting in 1999 or 2000. The Lee Who Started All Lee’s, to put it bluntly.

My third Lee is a bit of a twist, he was the First Officer of the original Paladin in Cold War before Cold War folded into Freedom, and he was brought back to life fairly soon thereafter by way of Geneva's medical team. He is the one of three that I don't play very often, he bounces from place to place as I need him OOC, a trouble-shooting Commander who goes where LoDona needs him the most. Cold War was also a post-Dominion game, so he gets used in the same way Utopia-Lee gets used, as a special tactics man. But he has one more twist, he's also a structural engineer, so he was involved with Geneva's construction as well.

So that leaves us with... a mess. Or rather, it leaves ME with a mess, since I have to explain the lives of three separate Characters who all share many of the same life events. And in thinking about this situation, I have decided the following.

1) I am going to write out the full history of only one character, the Utopia-verse Lee. His history was the most detailed, I've played him non-stop since Tony launched Utopia Planitia, and there was a lot more back-story to him (thanks to Katherine Mazuork and all our joint posts) then even with the original FGN-Lee. But there is a more pressing reason for this, two of the Lee's are Dominion-Wars era, whereas I only have one FGN-era Lee. So there will be less writing, qualification and explanations involved if I do the full history for one of the Dominion-Era characters.

2) I will note any timeline/personality/other changes between characters in separate sections devoted to said character. This section will be very small for the Paladin-Verse Lee, and much MUCH larger for the FGN-Verse Lee.

This will be a long work in progress; I can already see that I will have to do some separate history sections post-game-joining for the other two Lee's. And I can already see that I am going to miss some essential details on my first draft, its the little details that make the biggest differences after all.

So my only advice is this. Watch for Authors Notes, keep in mind that the 'Dominion War' is NOT A FREEDOM/FGN EVENT!!! (Note the bold and !!!), poke me if something is confusing between the three, and enjoy the ride!
