SPOTS

Developed by Dieter Gregory this autonomous system, Specialized Portable Operations Troubleshooting System, is a small, mobile system that is designed to help Operations and Engineering to identify, isolate, and diagnose issues when they arise. The small size of SPOTS allows it to enter smaller spaces faster, and the improved sensor system and feedback can identify areas of concern.

SPOTS Conceptual Design and Features

Spots Conceptual Design
  1. Mobility. SPOTS takes advantage of quadruped movement to transverse sections for fine analysis. Additionally, magnetic pads in the base of the paws allow SPOTS to move vertically to climb walls to get close to the sections of interest.
  2. Sensors. SPOTS ears enable the system to scan with 30% more range, with a submicron resolution better than the standard tricorder.
  3. Spectrum. SPOTS eyes allow the system to monitor extended ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum equivalent to an advanced scientific tricorder. Additionally, the eyes can be used to display information on a flat surface.
  4. Computer interface. SPOTS works on a wireless network connection to the computer systems, with focused access to schematics of the system.
  5. Tricorder interface. SPOTS back is based on a standard tricorder interface allowing the operator to interact and visualize data
  6. Nose interface. SPOTS Nose covers interface cables to allow the system to plug into ports for more detailed readings and analysis.
  7. Voice. SPOTS is equipped with a standard voice synthesizer to allow for normal communication with the operator. A built-in universal translator allows for communication with all standard federation languages.
  8. Replicator. SPOTS is equipped with a small replicator with 500 grams of raw material allowing the system to replicate small parts for immediate repairs.
