Sunali II
Sunali II is a remote Federation planet. The Planet is Class M and located near the Cardassian Border. The planet is the home of a sizable Human colony. The population of the planet numbers approximately 12 billion.
The colony is a strategic point of interest both for the Cardassians and the federation, as it makes an excellent staging point for an invasion of the neighboring territories. As such, it is a mutual demilitarized zone.
In the Mirror Universe[edit]
Sunali II in the mirror universe was a much different world that it was in the normal universe. It was a thriving military out post which had at one time been used as a weapons manufacturing facility y the IUP. In the mirror universe the planet was a thriving colony which also housed a significant shipyard and military installations. In this universe the planet was successful defecting in early 2408 to the the Cardassian - Klingon Alliance which captured the system.
The Rosenante visited to Sunali II several weeks later at the behest of Regent Rodrigo Doenitz after the planet capitulated completely with the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. Knowing it would only be a matter of time before the KCA assemble a massive task force to launch a counter attack against the IUP, the ISS Rosenante was ordered to destroy the system while simultaneously testing the new Omega Device on the planet's sun.
This had an added tactical benefit, as the alliance had already begun using the system as a staging point for a massive task force in preparation for the an upcoming counter attack against the IUP.
The ISS Rosenante delivered the Omega Device as ordered destroying the assembling task force and destroying the planet Sunali II. The attack also flung the ISS Rosenante through a dimensional rift into our universe.
