Canar

A canar is an object used by the Haliians to focus and amplify their telepathic abilities. It is also used to establish an empathic bond between two lovers.
Haliian Lt. J.G. Aquiel Uhnari used her canar when she had a brief romance with Geordi La Forge to create such a bond. With its help, the blind La Forge could see Uhnari as she really looked – not merely his imagined or VISORed image of her. (TNG: "Aquiel")
