Citizenry Act

The Citizenry Act was a legal declaration by Regent Rodrigo Doenitz made in 2407.

The Act offered full citizenry to the species whose home planets willingly joined the Imperial Union of Planets. This Act gave those species several legal and social rights that before had only been reserved for Terrans. In addition to granting these rights, The Act also reorganized the Government of the Union into one more resembling the United Federation of Planets in that it established a Central Legislative Council. However the council had no real power, instead they were there to make suggestions to the Regent.

In effect, the Citizenry Act brought several worlds into the fold, as they saw more freedom under the IUP than they did under the rule of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance.
