Introduction[edit]

The Tirensu are sentient natives of the planet Tiren III. The statistics given for this species has been averaged. One of the inhabitants and a Cantor of the Tirensu is named Kritassa. The name Tirensu means "People of the Vine", with the word Tiren meaning Vine.

The Tirensu have been visitied by Beta Quadrant species before and are quite aware they are not the only beings in the galaxy, they have learned to be very cautious around strangers, especially the green skinned Orions of the Kintara Syndicate who last visited their planet.

The Orions came seeking the Life Vine and had to use force upon one of the natives who finally gave up its secrets.

The Tirensu are very protective of the Life Vine for a number of reasons, one of the chief of them being they revere it for the life it provides their people due to its remarkable healing properties.

A Starfleet Scientific outpost has been carefully observing the Tirensu from a distance for the last several weeks. To this point the natives are not aware of their existence.

Physical Description[edit]

The Tirensu are a relatively short species averaging one metre to 1.5 metres in height. They are a willowy, thin species whose average weight tops out at approximately 110 pounds. Their stature lends weight to their belief that they were created from the Life vine.

Beliefs[edit]

The Tirensu beliefs are centred primarily on the Life Vine which they believe was their progenitor (see Creation Story below). They use the Life Vine and other vines to create their homes and clothing, as well as for food provision. As a result the Tirensu are a primarily vegetarian species.

Tirensu Creation Myth[edit]

The Ground began empty.

Nothing grew, but the Seed was there.

The Sky began. It too was empty, just as the Ground.

But the Seed was there.

The Sky, saddened by the emptiness of the world, wailed and cried casting tears on the Ground.

The Ground took the skies tears to itself and the rivers flowed.

And the Seed was there.

And the Ground took the Seed to itself.

And the Seed grew.

The Seed grew and the Vine of Life grew and covered the Ground.

Watered with the lonely tears of the Sky, the Life Vine too was lonely.

The Life Vine could not endure the loneliness and created other seeds which were planted in the Ground.

The seeds grew and the creatures grew.

The seeds grew and the provisions grew.

The seeds grew and the People of the Vine grew.

And the Vine of Life was not lonely, for the Tirensu were there.

And we are here.

The Tirensu were first seen in the USS Hades mission A Day in the Sun
