The USS Soval is a refitted Galaxy Class starship currently serving in the Starfleet of the United Federation of Planets. The ship was first launched in 2384 under the name USS Dakota. In 2412, the ship was removed for an extensive retrofit of its system. After two years, the ship returned to service in 2414 and was assigned to the 781th Squadron assigned to Starbase 989 to continue exploration of sector 6309 like, among many, the USS Starfire and USS Rosenante before it.
In late 2414, the crew contracted a virus when on an away mission on Anohesia. The virus laying dormant and hiding like biological materials in its victims, it was undetected by the transporter bio-filter. Not being equipped to cure the virus, the Anohesian virus spread rapidly to the entire crew, killing many in a matter of hours. Among the most important casualties were the Captain, Chief Engineer and Chief of Security. With a suffering crew, and a dead CO, FO Syuvik order the ship back to Starbase 989. The casualty report was high. 83 crew members dead, 312 officers in a critical states, and close to another 200 quarantined. A rare few hundred seemed to be immune, suffering no symptom despite having been in contact with the virus.
Meanwhile, the USS Starfire is recalled from its mission after it is discovered there is a building defect that threaten the safety of the crew.
It is decided by Vice Admiral Beckett to merge the two crews. Syuvik is promoted to CO. Sanok the CO of the USS Starfire, inform the admiralty that he wants to be removed from a command position. He is demoted to lieutenant commander and assigned as Chief of Security and Third Officer. Lieutenant Commander Steven Wade Matrix is promoted to commander and assigned as FO. In order to symbolize that the USS Starfire's crew is welcomed, the ship change name and become the USS Soval, in honor of Ambassador Soval, one of the Founding Fathers of the United Federation of Planets.
