Sentani Expanse

The Sentani Expanse was a section of space in the Alpha Quadrant that spanned along the Cardassian - Federation border.

in 2408 the USS Rosenante was ordered by the admiralty to patrol the Expanse. Captain Salid believed that the order was given to punish him for his decision to salvage several components from the USS Epiphany while the Rosenante was trapped inside the Harvester.

Salid decided that since he had received some controversial information from a Vorta named Julman concerning a nearby sector of space known as the Ikev Sector that he would explore that area to see if the information was true.

This was particularly easy to do, since the Sentani sector of space was not often travelled and it was too far outside of the Cardassian Union's core to be of much military use. The information was such that Salid was willing to risk a court-martial, by taking his ship off task.
